CARDIGAN Carnival Committee have stepped in to save the town’s Winter Fair at the eleventh hour.
The dramatic move comes after Menter Aberteifi rejected an invitation from Ceredigion County Council to run the popular street market which is traditionally held alongside Cardigan Fair.
Committee spokesperson Richard Jones pledged they would take over the running of the event ‘with or without the financial backing of Cardigan Town Council’.
“The street market is as traditional as the fair,” he told the Tivy-Side. “It would be such a shame if it didn’t happen.
“Many people have no interest in the fairground rides and simply come out for the street market.”
