IT’S a brand new era for Aberporth Village Hall!
Hall committee chairman Mike Harwood has handed over the keys to Alex Murphy, contracts manager for Bond Demolition, who started work to dismantle the 90-year-old hall on Monday.
The £1.1m Heart of the Community project will see a new hall built plus the smaller festival hall refurbished to provide a fit for the future energy efficient new village facility.
The new hall is due to open its doors in spring 2023 – in the meantime community activities, including the community fridge, digi project and dillad dwywaith recycled clothes rail – will be held at Canolfan Dyffryn.
Mr Harwood said: “It is a bittersweet moment – the old hall served us well, but we are looking forward to a fantastic new community facility.”
The project has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the Welsh Government plus contributions from Ceredigion County Council, Aberporth Community Council and hall savings.
