REIGNING champions St Dogmaels came from behind to win 3-2 against visitors and current leaders Lampeter Town in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one on Saturday.

Although Lampeter led 2-1 at the interval the Teifi Estuary villagers were generally on top, having gone ahead early on when striker Robbie Jenkins latched on to an Adam Williams through pass and buried his shot in the corner of the net.

The mid county visitors squared matters when Christy Gale headed home from close range and the same player put his side in front just before the break with a 35-yard effort that went in via an upright, giving goalkeeper Justin Smith no chance of saving.

Saints had a goal disallowed just before the break but brought the scores level early in the second period through Jenkins who grabbed his second goal of the game when taking a pass from midfielder Williams, and netting in style.

With Saints ruling the roost it was no surprise when they netted what proved to be the winner as teenage substitute Luke Williams found Louis Harding in space and the front-runner beat a defender on the edge of the penalty area before finding the net.

The homesters also hit an upright through Rhys Jones and they went close on several other occasions.

In the only other division one game of the day Llanboidy hoped to pick up three points at Felinfach and take over the league top spot from Lampeter Town.

But the Milkmen fought tenaciously throughout the 90 minutes and just about deserved their 2-1 win. Josh Davies and Aled Davies got the Felinfach goals, with Jac Griffiths netting for the visitors.

Llanilar Reserves took over top spot in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division three with a solid 5-1 win over visitors Cardigan Reserves last weekend.

Iwan Jones led the way for the northeners with a well-taken hat-trick and also on target were Simon Watson-Smith and Thomas Havnes.

Mallt Maskell scored a consolation goal for the Magpies.
Ffostrasol Reserves meanwhile sprang a 5-2 win over their Crymych counterparts at Troedyrhiw Park thanks to goals from Michael Wilcox and Daniel Davies who both netted twice and Llyr Jones.

Elsewhere Llechryd Reserves beat visitors Maesglas Reserves 2-0, with the home goals coming from Rhys McGrath and Liam Harries, and Llanboidy Reserves and Felinfach Reserves shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
