There was disappointment for both Newcastle Emlyn and Aberaeron of the Mid Wales League West as both sides were eliminated in round one of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup.

Emlyn, without a crop of unavailable regulars, went down 4-1 on their own Parc Emlyn stamping ground against Radnor Valley of Mid Wales League East.

Star of the show for the Powys visitors was Joey Price with a well-taken hat-trick and their other goal came courtesy of Ieuan Price, while Anthony McDonald netted for Emlyn.

Aberaeron battled until the final whistle before eventually going out 3-2 in extra time against visitors Hay St Marys of Mid Wales East.

In a match of high-quality finishing, despite the horrendous weather, Jamie Owen and Sam Middleton got the goals for the Black and Ambers, but Jack Cook, Matty Tong and Rob Snedden netted the goals which steered the Saints through.

Cardigan Town were scheduled to host Powys side Felindre at King George V Playing Field, but the visitors failed to raise a team, giving Town a bye into the second round.

Elsewhere in the competition, Forden United needed extra-time to secure their progress to the second round with a 3-1 win at home to Dyffryn Banw.

Nick Jones fired Banw into the lead before Jake O'Donnell's reply for the hosts sent the game into extra-time when O'Donnell completed his double with Henry O'Donnell also on target.

Abermule emphatically booked their place with a 12-0 rout at home to Padarn United.

Ryan Evans led the scoring with a four goal haul with Jack Weaver and Charlie Humphreys completing hat-tricks and goals from Jack Jarman and Stuart Emberton sealing Mule's progress.

Llansantffraid saw off the challenge of Brecon with Kieran Evans netting twice in a 4-2 win at Treflan.

Craig Williams and Kye Smart goals completed the Saints tally with the Stags hitting back with strikes from Kyle O'Shea and Jack Davies with goalkeeper Aeron Evans seeing red for the visitors.

Waterloo Rovers can also look forward to the next round after goals from Ian Macleod and Luke Evans settled a 2-0 win at home to Tywyn Bryncrug.
