LLECHRYD Cricket Club's first team are set to drop down from division one of the Pembrokeshire Cricket League after one season in the top flight.

Yet, despite their disappointment after a tough campaign against the county's top teams, there is plenty of optimism in the camp for the future.

“We gave it everything from the first game, but the standard is very high in division one," said a spokesperson for Llechryd CC this week.

“It is far from being a case of doom and gloom, on the contrary, we have youngsters coming through and we’ll have a go at bouncing back next season.”

The penultimate game between Llechryd and Narberth at the RDM Oval was called off last weekend.

The Teifisiders, with just one league win this season, are scheduled to travel to face Haverfordwest this weekend.

The division four game between Crymych and Llechryd Seconds and the division five fixture involving Whitland Thirds and Llechryd Thirds were also off.
