JAMES Pegg successfully defended his title in Cardigan Golf Club's 36 hole Strokeplay Championship on Sunday.

In good weather conditions, with a slight wind, Pegg came out on top with a score of 146 (74+72) to reclaim the trophy.

In second place was Dyfed Jones with a score of 148 (68+80), and Jac Emanuel took third position with a score of 150 (72+78).

There were 27 entries for this prestigious event, sponsored by club steward and Stewardess, Pat and Lil Malloy. played in good conditions.

With a slight wind, and the course again presented in excellent condition, there were some good scores returned from the field.

In the nett competition, the winner was Rob Clark, with a nett 143 (74+69) playing off a handicap of 6.

In second place was Jac Emanuel with a nett 144 (69+75) playing off 3, and in third place on countback was birthday boy Rich Griffiths with a nett 146 (76+70) playing off 8.

Cardigan Golf Club had held the Seniors Section fourball better ball competition on Thursday, July 29.

The winners on countback were Vaughan Jones and John Rees with 43 stableford points.

In second place, also with 43 points, were Nigel Clarke and Tony Simpkin, and in third place with 42 points were Josh Williams and Trevor Boyce.

On Saturday July 31, some 10 pairs competed in the Roderick Bowen Mixed Foursomes competition, and the winners with a nett 72.0 were Josh and Jen Williams.

In second place on countback were Helena Horrocks and Warren Jenkins with a nett 75.0, and in third place also on countback and with a nett 75.0 were Roland and Lorraine Lloyd.
