A NEWCASTLE Emlyn motorist has denied a charge of careless driving after allegedly pulling out into the path of a transit van causing an accident in which both drivers were injured.

Aimi Coleman, aged 50, of Ty Newydd, Capel Iwan, is said to have committed the offence on the B4333 near the entrance to Rhyddgoed Farm, Newcastle Emlyn, on July 14, 2020.

The prosecution allege Coleman was attempting to overtake another vehicle when her Hyundai Comfort collided head-on with the oncoming transit.

As a result the van driver sustained whiplash injuries and was now suffering constant headaches as well as tinnitus.

The defendant was said to have sustained a fractured right forearm and both vehicles were badly damaged.

The case has been adjourned until March 10 for a case management hearing at Aberystwyth Justice Centre
