EMERGENCY services are currently dealing with a chemical spill from a lorry in Cardigan.
Police area advising people to stay clear of the Morgan Street area of the town following the spillage which occured at around 1.15pm today (Thursday, August 13).
A Dyfed-Powys spokesperson said: “The liquid is no longer leaking, however the fire service is at the scene as a precaution. A specialist chemical unit is also on its way, as a precaution.
“The driver of the lorry carrying the chemical has become mildly unwell after coming in to contact with the substance but has been checked by paramedics and does not need further treatment.
“There's not thought to be a risk to the public. However, if you have been in the area and become unwell, please seek appropriate medical advice.”
Fire crews from Cardigan, Crymych and Pembroke Dock are at the scene, along with police and the ambulance service.
Laura Elsaesser, owner of El Salsa, said the road outside her Mexican restaurant was currently closed but that the business was still open and she had not been advised of any threat to health.
