UPDATE

A new complication has arisen over the future of the failing Sikh run Khalsa Secondary Academy in Stoke Pages - after supporters of the existing trust said they would take legal action to stop a new team taking over.

A bid to take over the school at Hollybush Hill is being made by the governors and trustees of the ‘outstanding’ Khalsa Primary School in nearby Slough.

Devastated leaders of the trust that runs the Stoke Poges school at Hollybush Hill have been given ‘notice to quit’ by schools minister Baroness Elizabeth Berridge, after it was found to be‘inadequate’ and put in special measures by Government Ofsted inspectors six months ago.

Khalsa Primary School in Wexham Road - also a Sikh school - was given an ‘outstanding’ rating after it received a similar inspection. Many of its pupils transfer to the Stoke Poges school.

It is now in discussion with the Government about taking over at Stoke Poges.

But supporters of the existing trust at Khalsa Secondary have put out a public statement saying that a legal challenge is planned.

Their statement says they want to take action ‘against the Department of Education (DfE) decision to transfer the school to a NON-SIKH TRUST’.

They are appealing for donations.

Yesterday (Thursday) the headteacher at Khalsa Primary School Raminder Singh Vig said that claims a non-sikh trust might take over the school was a lie.

He said: “A Windsor trust did express interest. But we are the only trust in discussion with the Government about taking over Khalsa Secondary Academy. We have told them this and the Department of Education has also told them this."
