A charity that supports thousands of vulnerable people has been given a welcome facelift at its Slough premises.

The Look Ahead charitable housing association delivers services to people with mental health problems or learning disabilities, the young and the homeless throughout the South East. But its own home at Burlington Road, Slough was looking rather tired - until a nearby construction team converted the tired laundry room and quiet room into an open kitchen/break out area with separate office.

The Morgan Sindall construction team working on the old library site nearby carried out a complete overhaul at Look Ahead installing partitioning and ceiling adaptions, making numerous mechanical and electrical alterations, while fitting a new kitchen.

The refurbishment had all been planned ahead of the Covid-19 lockdown. So it could go ahead the team adapted their delivery plan and put a series of safe working procedures in place.

Roger Robbin-Coker, head of operations Look Ahead said: "The new kitchen and break out area will make a huge difference to the lives of our vulnerable customers. With this new facility, we plan to provide cooking lessons, which will help them move forward with their lives. Now that we have the space, we will also be able to provide a mobile GP surgery for our residents."

Morgan Sindall Construction are currently delivering two new Marriott International hotels, 64 residential apartments and 4,100 sq ft of restaurant and retail space on the old library site - as part of Slough Borough Council's Urban Renewal project.
