LAST week we asked if Tivyside readers could put names to faces of these rugby players after the pictures had been sent to us by Cliff Ladd.

Laurence Harris, from Daioni Organic got in touch to suggest some of those in the two pictures but it was Tudor Harries who was able to give a definitive answer to all the names.

Tudor was coaching the youth sides at Cardigan Rugby Club back in the day and remembers them all well.

The sevens team pictured was the one that won the prestigious Milford Youth 7s tournament back in 1974.

"There were no leagues in those days but there were various tournaments and this was one of the top competitions," said Tudor.

"They were a great side and in the final they beat Pontarddulais 31-0 which was a fantastic performance - and that was also before it was five points for a try.

"A lot of the players are still in the area."
