THE ‘stay home, save lives’ message appeared to be heeded by the vast majority across the Tivyside region over the weekend.
People stayed at home and the roads were eerily quiet as people self-isolated in a bid to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
Ceredigion’s Roads Policing Unit were out in force imposing the Government-ordered lockdown.
One officer stationed on the A486 at New Quay stopped several cars as people were still tempted to head to the coast.
“It’s strange having the roads so empty when sun is shining. Words of advice given to those who were going surfing, shopping in groups or to visit family unnecessarily.
“Clear to see that message for essential travel only is being supported by vast majority of our community. Amazing efforts by all in supporting our NHS.
“Strange times but we all have a part to play. Stay home, save lives.”
