COMMUNITIES across the Tivyside area are rallying round to look after the vulnerable, with schemes being set up in many villages.

Cilgerran Community Support Group has been set up to help those struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

A network of volunteers has come forward to help people with non-specialist needs.

To access help, contact group co-ordinator Cllr John Davies Cwmbetws on 01239 891566 and leave a clear message with your name and telephone number. You can also email to john.cwmbetws@virgin.net

A leaflet will be dropping though letterboxes in the village and surrounbing area over the weekend thanks to an army of willing volunteers from the community.

Cllr Davies said: “The information is plain and easy to read with a central point of contact who will co-ordinate any requests for help to local volunteers.

“We have already started receiving requests for shopping for those who have self-isolated. If the predictions are correct, we are going to be in this situation for some time. Therefore as time progresses, if you feel you are able to join the group as a volunteer, please drop me a line.

“Can I take this opportunity to thank everybody that has already come forward to offer help in this our hour of need as a community. We can be very proud of 'Hoff Cilgerran'. Diolch i chwi oll. Thanks to all.”

A similar scheme has been set up to cover Llechryd and Llangoedmor as the village community rallies round to cope with social isolation.
