ALLEGED late-night problems in Cardigan town centre are not within the remit of the Dyfed Police and Crime Commissioner.

Cardigan Town Council had written to Daffyd Llywelyn expressing their concerns at alleged recent incidents.

Councillors also contacted the local police and licensing officer at Ceredigion County Council.

In his reply to the town council, Mr Llywelyn said he “does not have the remit to become involved in operational policing delivery”.

Cllr John Adams-Lewis said he was keen to see the re-establishment of PACT (Police and Community Together) meetings with the local policing team.

“I propose that we write to the chief constable to see if they could get PACT back,” he said.

“Pembrokeshire still has them and cannot see any reason why we cannot ask to hold them again.”
