A HOUSE was badly damaged by fire in the early hours of Sunday morning (December 1).

Fire crews from Crymych, Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn, Fishguard, Haverfordwest and Ammanford were all called to the detached property at Rhoshill, Cardigan, off the A478, at around 12.30am.

The building was well alight when they arrived and it was established that no-one was inside.

Firefighters left the incident at 7.43am and re-attended at 11.54am to dampen down hotspots.

The cause of the fire is being treated as accidental.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended to find fire crews tackling a fire at a detached property, which had caused significant damage.

“Contact was made with the occupants of the address, and it was established that nobody was inside the building at the time.

“Fire investigators attended the scene to assess the property and no further investigation is needed.

Support for the occupants has been arranged to help them through this difficult time.”
