CRYMYCH Rugby Club successfully retained their title in the Cardigan Carnival barrel race last night (Friday, September 7).

The event – rearranged following its cancellation a couple of weeks ago because of the bad weather – again proved popular, with large crowds lining the course between the Guildhall and the far end of Pendre.

Six teams entered – Moch Hapus (Dei James butchers), Teifi Kitchens, Crymych RFC, Bois y Camp, Maesglas FC and Poppit Rockets - with the final taking place between Crymych RFC and Teifi Kitchens.

And once again, it was the boys from the Pembrokeshire rugby club who came out in top. Dewi James and Maesglas came joint third, with Poppit Rockets taking the plate run-off from Bois y Camp.

Tomorrow (Sunday, September 8) is rearranged Carnival day, with the procession through town and up to King George V playing fields starting from Biroude Gardens at 1.30pm.
