A BRYNHOFFNANT man has been banned from getting behind the wheel for two years after being almost three times over the drink-drive limit.

Richard Edmund Cary, of Hafan Deg, Brynhoffnant, was driving a Honda Accord at Portland Road, Aberystwyth, on May 31, when stopped by police.

The 50-year-old had 102 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Cary pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

As well as a 24-months driving ban, magistrates imposed a community order and Cary will have to carry out 100 hours unpaid work within the next 12 months. He also has to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
