AN Aberporth woman will be hoping for national success when she competes in the Miss Bikini final at the British Amateur Body-Builders’ Association championships in Southport this weekend.

Carys Llewelyn recently lifted the Welsh title in a competition at Newport and is now going all out to add the British crown on Saturday (June 1) after undergoing a gruelling preparation.

“I am on a very strict diet of six small meals of cod and asparagus ahead of the competition, while I am also doing two and a half hours of exercise every day, both cardo-vascular and weights,” said Carys, who now lives in New Quay where she runs the SeaMor dolphin watching business with her boyfriend.

“I have always been into sport and exercise and I just happened to see something on social media about bodybuilding and I got in touch with the girl and took it from there.

“Last year was my first year and I competed twice and I have done the same again this time.”

And there will be a familiar face alongside Carys this weekend – her former Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, Llandysul school-mate Elin Mai Vaughan.

Elin Mae was runner-up to Carys at the Welsh competition – though neither knew each other was competing until they bumped into each other on the day.

“We will be travelling up separately with family and friends but will be staying in the same hotel and getting ready together,” added Carys.
