A MAN has been told to prepare himself for jail after he admitted drugs offences.
Russell Paul Edwards, aged 45, was stopped by police as he drove his BMW and found to have cocaine and cannabis with him.
Edwards, of Blaenwaun, Carmarthenshire, appeared at Swansea crown court (Tuesday, April 23) to admit possessing cannabis.
His barrister, Carina Hughes, told the court he had already admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
She said he would argue that he had a drugs debt at the time and was trying to pay off his dealer.
Judge Keith Thomas said he would not accept that unless Edwards explained how he got into such a situation and where he got the drugs from.
Miss Hughes said he understood that an immediate prison sentence was likely.
Judge Thomas refused a request for a pre-sentence report.
He told Edwards: "In my judgement there could not be anything but a custodial sentence and you should prepare yourself for prison."
Edwards will be sentenced on May 7 and was granted bail meanwhile.
