A LLANDYSUL driver was more than four times over the legal drink-drive limit when caught by police in Newcastle Emlyn.

Paul Anthony Nixon, of Y Bwythyn, Rhydlewis, Llandysul, was stopped while driving a Renault Clio on Castle Street, Newcastle Emlyn, on January 9. He had 143 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre banned 40-year-old Nixon from driving for 34 months. He was also given a community order which calls for 200 hours of unpaid community work in the next 12 months as well as an alcohol treatment requirement.

Nixon was also ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
