A CEREDIGION man caught by paedophile hunters has escaped a jail sentence.

Peter Kundrak, aged 27, latched onto what he thought was a 13-year-old girl called Amber and exchanged messages over the internet.

But she turned out to be a "decoy" posted by a group calling themselves Confronted and Caught.

Kundrak, of New Street, Lampeter, admitted attempting to incite an underage girl to engage in sexual activity.

He was made the subject of a two-year community order and told to complete 30 days of a rehabilitation activity. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Pevention Order to control his future behaviour.

John Hipkin, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court that Kundrak joined a chat room and swapped messages with "Amber."

He sent her photographs of his penis and asked her to send him her underwear.

Kundrak also suggested meeting but, said Mr Hipkin, did not go through with the idea.

After three months he sent "Amber" a message telling her he would get into trouble if someone discovered what he had been writing to a 13-year-old girl and ended the contact.

His barrister, Dyfed Thomas, said Kundrak had never really intended to meet the girl and had himself put a stop to what he had been doing.

He said Kundrak had already spent three months in custody following his arrest.

Judge Paul Thomas described Kundrak as a sick, inadequate fantasist who clearly had paedophile tendencies.

"Your conversations with what you believed to be a 13-year-old girl were disgusting," he added.
