THE Lower Teifi Flood Awareness Group has been put on alert after National Resources Wales issued a warning for the Ceredigion Coast yesterday (Monday, September 11).
Last night’s high tide at 9.38pm in the Cardigan area (5.21m) passed without incident and this morning's high tide at 9.59am (5.21m) in the town saw the water reach the top of the Gloster Row slipway but no further.
It is hoped tonight's high tide at 10.17pm will be similar, though with rain being forecast for much of the day and blustery winds, authorities are on alert for possible flooding.
The NRW warning said: "High tides are predicted over the next few days from Tuesday nights tide at 20:30 at Fishguard. This tide is the highest of the period with tide heights decreasing over the next few days.
"The winds are forecast to be force 5 from a westerly direction. Offshore waves are expected to be small. Be careful on roads, low lying land and areas close to the estuary."
