Mark Phillips, of Bethel Chapel, Church Lane, pleaded guilty to drug-driving when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.
The 36-year-old was stopped in Newcastle Emlyn while driving a VW Golf on April 29. He tested positive for cannabis, with a reading of 4.2 microgrammes per litre of blood. The legal limit is two microgrammes per litre of blood.
Phillips was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120, along with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
He also admitted being in possession of 0.4 grammes of cannabis, for which he was fined a further £80.
