A CARDIGAN man who was almost double the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads for 17 months.

Thomas Phillip Jones, of Heol Hafod, Cardigan, was stopped by police while driving a Fiat Punto at Longdown Bank, St Dogmaels, on November 4 last year.

The 28-year-old had a blood alcohol level of 151 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 microgrammes.

Jones pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

As well as being banned from driving for 17 months, Jones was fined £180 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
