A CARING Cardigan youngster has raised £700 to help out a schoolfriend who was diagnosed with cancer.
Ten-year-old Cari Davies is a pupil at Penparc School, alongside Mia Lloyd who was diagnosed
with metastic osteosarcoma and has been receiving treatment at Noah's Ark Hospital in Cardiff.
Cari wanted to do something to help raise money for Mia and so decided to make #TîmMia keyrings and to sell them for a minimum donation of £1.
She sold them to other children and staff at school and through various coffee mornings and other events.
She originally made 200 and had almost sold out within the first week so ended up making several more batches.
Cari had very little help from anyone else and insisted she wanted to do it all on her own. Some of the keyrings even travelled quite a distance, with one ending up being used in Patagonia.
Through the keyring sales, Cari raised the fantastic total of £700 and was delighted to personally handed over the cheque to Mia.
The cheque itself was made out for £930.08, as JJ Morris in Cardigan had also raised £230.08 and this was handed over at the same time.
Cari said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone who purchased the keyrings and donated towards this good cause.”
