CARDIGAN’S Ashleigh Surgery and Cardigan Health Centre are hosting a free flu jab clinic at the town swimming pool today.

As the winter months approach again it is important for people to start thinking about getting their seasonal quadravalent flu jab.

To help their patients access this year’s vaccine, the surgery and health centre are running joint drop in clinics for their registered patients at Cardigan Swimming Pool Hall today and tomorrow – October 16 and 17.

Patients aged 65 or over or are in an at risk category are invited to attend the Swimming Pool Hall between 9am & 7pm on one of the above dates, no appointment needed. For further details of the ‘at risk’ categories please contact your surgery.

Vicki Howell-Williams and Jen Jones, Practice Managers at Ashleigh Surgery and Cardigan Health Centre are encouraging their patients to take up the opportunity:

“Protecting yourself against seasonal flu is a simple way to prevent unnecessary risk to your health over winter. Anyone can get flu and the flu virus is easily passed from person to person and can spread rapidly.

Most people recover from a bout of flu uneventfully but complications can occur particularly in the elderly or in those with certain medical conditions such as diabetes, those with heart disease or who are pregnant.

We want to make it as simple as possible for those who want to receive their jab this year. Our patients can call into our drop-in sessions at Cardigan Swimming Pool Hall.”

If you would like advice about the flu jab you can call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or speak to your GP.”
