A CARDIGAN man has been sentenced to six months in prison for carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.
Paul Alan Clift, of Maes-Henffordd, pleaded guilty to carrying a lock knife at St Catherine’s Walk, Carmarthen, on September 19 when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.
The 36-year-old also pleaded admitted stealing four bottles of perfume from Debenhams in Carmarthen, worth £287. He was sentenced to one month in prison to run concurrently with the six months.
He also admitted damaging three security casings belonging to Tesco in Carmarthen on August 7 and stealing food from Aldi in Cardigan on August 23. He was handed another one month prison sentence for each offence to run concurrently.
Clift was given another one month concurrent jail term and a £115 victim surcharge for damaging a police car in Llandysul on June 26, which he also admitted, and was also given another one month concurrent sentence and banned from driving for 15 months after pleading guilty to failing to provide a sample after being stopped while driving in Aberystwyth on June 26.
No separate penalty was imposed by the bench for driving in Llandysul without insurance on June 26 and for driving without a licence, both charges to which he pleaded guilty.
