Three mums from the Teifi Valley area are taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 1. The ‘Super Mums,’ Angharad Lloyd, Mair Roberts and Carys Owens will run in aid of SCBU (the Special Care Baby Unit) at West Wales General Hospital, Glangwili.

Angharad has been training for 12 months, and even though she has taken part in a few races, the Cardiff event will be be her first ever race over 13 miles.

“I’ve completed the 10k race for life in Aberystwyth and Llanelli, a 10k long course weekend in Tenby and a few local races in preparation for the Cardiff Half, but taking part in a marathon will be a new experience,” said mother of three Angharad.

"It will be challenging on a personal level and beneficial for health reasons."

The mums are hoping to raise £1,000 and are currently more than halfway to their target.

So far, Angharad and Mair have held a coffee morning at the Reading Room in Newchapel selling drinks and cakes and organised a raffle, where they raised £271.50.
