SHOPS, cafes, hairdressers and other businesses in Newcastle Emlyn are gearing up for the second Newcastle Emlyn Art Festival which runs from July 31 to August 12.

More than 30 businesses in the town have teamed up with local artists to display their work in their shop windows.

“I’m really looking forward to the lively atmosphere the festival creates,” said artist Andrew Francis from Adpar, who is displaying his paintings in the window of a new clothes shop, Bwtic.

“With great works of art and craft in shop windows throughout the town, you can shop and see the work of local artists at the same time.”

The festival was started last year by Rhian Davies, owner of Siop Gelf Y Wiber Art Shop. “Newcastle Emlyn has so much to offer. We want to attract more visitors into the town,” said Rhian.

“It’s also a great taster for the Ceredigion Art Trail which starts on August 12.”
