THE New Quay RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out by the Coastguard on Tuesday morning (Tuesday, May 23) at 8.45am to rescue a local boat stranded off the reef in the bay.
Crewed by Ben Billingham, Oliver Edwards and Thomas Davies, the craft was found to have a fouled propeller and impossible to shift. A rope was quickly attached and the boat towed back to the quayside.
Mr Billingham said: “This was a straightforward operation. The sea was calm but the boat occupant did the right thing in summoning help as he was close to the reef and unable to free himself.
“It was also pleasing to see the RNLI safety message getting across as he was wearing a safety jacket and had other safety equipment in the boat.”
