The Cardigan branch of DIY Superstore B&Q will be closed by the start summer it has been confirmed.
In March 2015 Kingfisher, the company that owns B&Q, revealed it was to undergo a major restructuring.
As a result, it would be closing 60 stores and it was announced in September 2015 that nine stores in Wales would close including the one in Cardigan.
A spokesperson for B&Q has now confirmed that B&Q in Cardigan will be closing on May 28 and in the weeks running up to the closure there will be closing down sale.
Now that the B&Q store is set to close, residents of the town of Cardigan have been discussing what will be replacing it.
There were thoughts that B&M would take over the space and the retailer would bring their big brand products to Cardigan for lower price.
But, a spokesperson from B&M recently commented: “We are actively seeking opportunities to increase the number of B&M stores across Mid-Wales, however I am not aware that we are looking at this site at this present moment.
“As a growing business with more than 480 stores nationwide we are always looking to expand further; providing great value products and world class service to even more customers every week as well as playing an integral part in the local community.”
