Newport proved the plaice to be this week as locals and visitors celebrated fintastic Fish Week festivities.
The town’s mayor and mayoress Andrew and Laura Benham helped launch the event at the town’s street market on Monday.
Newport Town Council chairman Mike Sajko said: “Pembrokeshire Fish Week didn’t happen this year, so Newport decided to support our own.
“It’s been tremendous, businesses and restaurants have taken it on board and it’s going from strength to strength.”
He added: “Newport is a close-knit community who pull together and show what can be done.”
Ysgol Bro Ingli pupils got into the spirit of the event by creating posters, which were put up in shop windows, and winning designs netted prizes.
Mayor Andrew Benham said: “It’s a wonderful thing for the town and all the businesses have joined in with enthusiasm. We are grateful to Cllr Paul Harries and councillors for their hard work in making this event a success.”
