The popular Cardi Bach coastal bus service returns this week.

The Cardi Bach operates between Cardigan and New Quay, linking coastal villages along its route. It offers a stress-free way to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Cardigan Bay and opens up opportunities to enjoy the Ceredigion Coast Path.

Funding for the service for 2015-16 is being provided to Ceredigion County Council by Welsh Government. It will be running six days a week over the summer months with a reduced service over the winter period. The service (No. 522) also operates on Thursdays throughout the year to a number of villages along the route.

The timetable is available on the County Council web site www.ceredigion.gov.uk and the Ceredigion Coast Path website www.ceredigioncoastpath.org.uk.

The Cardi Bach previously operated until September 2015 with support from the Rural Development Plan for Wales. The conclusion of the service under that project led to a local campaign to reinstate the service, including the submission of a petition to Welsh Government. The County Council has worked closely with the local campaign group on the new service.

A Council spokesperson said: “The Cardi Bach has proved to be a firm favourite with local residents and tourists and walkers alike. We are grateful for the support given by the Minister that has enabled the re-introduction of the service."

The coastal bus service is operated by Richards Brothers of Cardigan.
