An Aberporth man has been awarded Disability Sport Wales Volunteer of the Year.
Steve Wedgewood, who only moved into the village in October, scooped the title at Friday's Ceredigion sports awards for his hard work coaching local youngsters.
His efforts have already borne fruit - three local youngsters that he coaches will be representing Wales in athletics next weekend in Warwick.
Disability Sports Wales development officer Gemma Cutter said: "Steve volunteers at Cardigan Leisure Centre every week coaching disabled children in a variety of sports. Without him the session simply wouldn’t be able to continue."
Steve, a trained sports coach, offered his services as a volunteer when he moved to Wales from the Midlands last year.
"I couldn't believe it when they read out my name," he said.
"I had a big smile on my face all weekend."
