The sword is finally out of the stone, and the boy Arthur is declared King at last! In other words, The Attic Players are happy to announce that further to the recent CinemAttic film viewings, they are ready to offer you the first live performance since the temporary closure of the theatre last October.

Although originally planned for the Christmas production, King Arthur is essentially a great family comedy which will be enjoyed at any time of the year. Directed by Suzanne Munn and written by Jilly McNeil, this is a story fairly true to the original legend of how King Arthur came to be king. Whether his Knights, played by Ben Allen, Martyn Buck and Justine Dodd (who were all last seen in 'Noises Off'), were really so dysfunctional, or whether Merlin (Roger Smith), was genuinely guided by his bossy wife (Jenni Steer), is open to debate. Perhaps Guinevere may have become a more biddable wife without the influence of her feminist tutor, Miss Snottingham Smythe, (Elaine Thompson), but it all makes for a hilarious piece of story telling which should send the winter blues well and truly flying.

As well as creating the technical wizardry which helps to make this production so special, Branwen Munn is making her acting debut as the Lady of the Lake, and she provides a lively adversary to the evil baddies, Morgana and her evil Servant, with Emma Lewis Coulthurst and John Fenna making a wonderful team. This is Emma's acting debut with the Attic Players but assuredly we will be seeing her and hearing her fabulous singing voice much more in the future.

The show has a strong cast of experienced stalwarts mixed with enthusiastic new members, and a liberal sprinkling of junior members to sing and dance their way into your hearts. The main junior parts of Guinevere, Arthur, and Anna are confidently portrayed by Beth Woolley, Ajay Hiser, and Maddie Smith respectively.

Dates for the show are April 16th -18th, and 23rd -25th, and all tickets are £6. To help ensure the comfort of Attic audiences, a row of twelve seats has been removed from the theatre in order to make a little more leg room. This makes it more imperative than ever to book seats early as demand is sure to be high.

Please note that the next CinemAttic viewing will be 'Moulin Rouge' and is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th. All tickets for this are £5.

Tickets for both shows are available as usual from Fair and Fabulous in Newcastle Emlyn or via the Attic website, www.atticplayers.org.uk.
