NATIONAL Theatre Live presents a brand new production of one of Tennessee Williams’ best-known and beloved works, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, which will be broadcast as an encore screening at Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan on Thursday, March 8 (7pm).
On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday.
The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage.
With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real – and which will win out?
One of Williams’ best-known works and his personal favourite, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1955.
Following his smash hit production of A Streetcar Named Desire, Benedict Andrews’ ‘thrilling revival’ (New York Times) stars Sienna Miller alongside, Jack O’Connell and Colm Meaney.
“Benedict Andrews offers a brilliant, lacerating account of the play that jolts you out of any complacent sense of cosy familiarity with the dramatist’s characteristic terrain,” says The Independent.
“A bold reimagining. Innovative and powerfully acted,” adds The Sunday Times
Tickets for National Theatre Live screenings are priced £12.50 full price (£11.50 concessions) and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, on-line at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the new Mwldan app.
