The chairman Mrs Pam McGrath, complimented Mrs Margaret Edwards on her success at the recent Merched y Wawr area competition at which she was awarded two first prizes for her floral designs.
Classwork for the afternoon was ‘Eternal Triangle’. Mrs McGrath’s designs on a grey/green table pedestal showed beauty and elegance, keeping the triangular shape at every angle. Club members approached the subject in a wide variety of styles, ranging from traditional to modern. Mrs Ann Butler was asked to assess the arrangements which she accomplished with ease, commenting helpfully about each design.
The Club has recently staged a very successful Flower Festival for the Urdd 2010 Eisteddfod committee in Hen Gapel, Aberporth. The designs reflected the many activities that the Urdd makes possible for young people. Children from Aberporth school contributed an excellent display of artwork.
On Friday 26 June at 7.00pm in Aberporth Village Hall there will be a floral demonstration, ‘Upstairs/Downstairs’ given by Mrs Beryl Griffiths, an experienced NAFAS demonstrator and teacher. Tickets are available from club members.
Club meetings take place on alternative Friday afternoons. New members are always welcome. Contact the secretary, Mrs Rachel Ogilive, 810066 for details.
