The A487 in Newport faces overnight closures for roadworks.

The Welsh Ministers announced the temporary measure, which will take place from September 22, 2025 for a week.

The public notice, and all others across north Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, can be viewed on the Public Notice Portal at https://publicnoticeportal.uk/

The closure, stretching from the 20mph speed limit signs at both ends of the town, will apply from 8pm to 6am daily until September 29.

The order, under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will allow works to be undertaken on or near this section of the road.

Only emergency services and vehicles involved in the roadworks will be allowed to use the road during the closure.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the westbound A487 to Fishguard, the southbound A40 to Haverfordwest, the eastbound A40 to Penblewin Roundabout, and the northbound A478 to Cardigan to re-join the A487.

Westbound vehicles will follow the same route in reverse.

Although the restrictions are expected to last for a week, the order will remain valid for up to 18 months as a contingency plan.

This means that if the work has to be rescheduled, or if additional work is required, the order can be extended.

Any changes to the timing and dates will be communicated in advance.
