ST DOGMAELS tightened their grip on the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one title with a 2-0 win over Crannog in midweek, and need just two more points to be crowned champions.

The Saints, who faced Ffostrasol in the Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup Final at Aberaeron on Easter Monday, have lost just once in the league this season, with three matches remaining.

Goals in each half from Robbie Jenkins and Rhys Jenkins sealed their 14th win in 17 league outings, and a win at home to Felinfach on Saturday would see them retain the division one title.

Crymych, with five games in hand on the league leaders, are the only side who can catch them now, but their championship hopes faded in a 1-1 draw at Lampeter Town at the weekend.

Eilir George gave the Preseli men an interval lead, but a late equaliser from Daniel Evans with five minutes to go ensured that hosts Lampeter finished with a share of the spoils.

In midweek, Crymych beat Corris United 8-0 in the Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies Cup semi-final at Penrhyncoch, and will go on to face Llanboidy at Newcastle Emlyn on May 2.

Runaway division two leaders Llechryd moved 15 points clear at the top of division one with back-to-back wins over Llandysul Reserves in midweek, and Bargod Rangers on Saturday.

Goals from Daniel Jones and Sam Hall earned them the title with a 2-0 win over Llandsyul Reserves, and Daniel Davies netted the winner in a 1-0 home win over Bargod at the weekend.

In midweek, goals from Jac Griffiths and Rhydian Davies had earned second-placed Bargod a 2-1 home win over Aberporth Reserves, who had scored through Daniel Davies.

Llandysul Reserves bounced back with a 3-2 win over St Dogmaels FC Reserves, with two goals from Lewis Jones and one from sub Iwan Jones, with Jordan Owens scoring both replies.

Ben Broughton scored twice as Maesglas Reserves notched a solid 4-0 midweek win over derby rivals Cardigan Reserves, with Joshua Elliot and John Rees also on the scoresheet.

Goals from Adrian West, Aled James and James Le Messurier earned Maesglas Reserves a 3-2 win over Llanboidy Reserves, who scored twice through Dafydd Wright.

Rhodri Morgan scored a hat-trick and Oscar Evans and Leon Holmes also netted as Dewi Stars won 5-1 at Cardigan in the Bay Cup second round, with Llion Williams netting the reply.
