THE Costcutter Football League has accepted two new teams for next season - bringing the total number to 26 in the three divisions.
After the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League was reduced to one division of nine teams, Padarn United Reserves and Llanilar Reserves applied to join the Costcutter and were accepted at a special league meeting.
Long-serving Costcutter secretary Geraint Davies said: “We are in the business of fostering football. Padarn and Llanilar had nowhere to go and it would have been a sad day if they had to fold.”
For next season it is proposed to have 11 teams in Division One, eight in the Second Division and seven in Division Three, but everything is up in the air as the lower tiers in the Football Association of Wales structure have not been given starting dates for the new season.
“At the moment decisions are provisional and a further meeting will be held when we have more information,” said the secretary.
