LAST season’s Costcutter League runners-up Cardigan Town are champing at the bit ready for a resumption of football with a bit of a shake-up at King George V Playing Field.

Former skipper Steve Blackford is new head coach with central defender Alun ‘Gotrel’ Williams and midfielder John Curran joint player/managers.

The squad, which includes several talented youngsters, including Owen Wilton the former Aberystwyth Town Academy member, Jack Everton and Jac Blackford, are back in serious training in preparation for the challenges ahead.

The Magpies will be hoping to keep talented 20-year-old striker Liam Doherty who is on the wish list of a number of clubs.

A spokesperson said: “We have nine or 10 players under the age of 20 and the attendances at training sessions have been most encouraging.”
