COSTCUTTER League club Newcastle Emlyn has appointed much-travelled Gwynfor Edwards the former Llandysul supremo and boss of Mid Wales League clubs as new manager.

The Llanelli-based 37-year-old takes over the hot seat at Parc Emlyn from player/manager Owain Thomas who took the Reds to third and still with a chance of lifting the title when the FAW cancelled the remainder of the season.

Edwards joined Llandysul in the summer of 2018 after spells with Llanelli Town, Kidwelly Town and Pontarddulais Town.

From Llandysul he joined Carno in the Mid Wales League, coached Aberystwyth Ladies and in January this year became coach at Machynlleth Town of the Mid Wales League, working under manager Luke Vince-Holt.

Thanking outgoing boss Owain Thomas an Emlyn club official said: “We are extremely grateful to Owain for his efforts on behalf of the club and wish him well for the future."
