Although Cardigan Town were knocked out of this year's Costcutter League Easter Monday Cup at the quarter-final stage the club can still boast winning the competition on seven occasions.

A first taste of success came 70 years ago in season 1949-1950 and this picture shows the initial winners with club officials after skipper Frank Forster was presented with the Roderick Bowen (Member of Parliament) Cardiganshire League Challenge Cup against Aberaeron at Cilgerran.

The second victory for the Magpies was in season 1963-64 when overcoming neighbours St Dogmaels and three seasons later the cup was back at King George V Playing Field after beating Bargod Rangers.

Town emerged winners against Aberaeron in 1969 and three decades elapsed before defeating Bargod Rangers in 2002.

Win number six was achieved against New Quay in 2005 and the latest was five years ago when lifting the coveted trophy at the expense of now defunct Pencader.
