Lewis and Smith bow out
Jamie Lewis and Justin Smith, who cut their darts teeth in the Cardigan & District League, were knocked out of the Ladbrokes UK Championship at the second stage in Minehead.
Lewis, aged 28, formerly of Cardigan and now living in Carmarthen, who reached the World Championship semi-final in 2018, beat 31-year-old Ross Smith of Deal in Kent 6-5 in the first round but at the next stage went down 10-4 against 48-year-old Mensur Suljovic of Vienna, currently ranked 12th in the world.
Smith, aged 22, of Cilgerran, who is competing on the PDC Development Tour, sprang a first round 6-3 win over Andy Jenkins of Cosham in Hampshire before losing 6-5 against 35-year-old Wesley Harms of the Netherlands.
