RALLY driver Chris Hand completed a memorable double at the weekend with victory in the Farrington Trophy Rally.

His success followed hot on the heels of his victory earlier this month in his home event at the Teifi Valley Motor Club Cilwendeg Rally.

On both occasions, Hand was at the wheel of his Ford Sierra, with co-driver Darren Ikin partnering him to victory on this occasion.

It was Hand’s first trip to North Wales to compete in the Clwyd Vale Motor Club-run Farrington Rally and he had to overcome difficult conditions over the 120-mile course to come home 46 seconds ahead of second-placed Mark Lennox and Ian Beamond in a Ford Escort.

There was then a big gap back to third-placed Zak Hughes and Robbie Pugh.

“It’s great to follow up the Cilwendeg win with this one.” said Hand.

“It was my first time up in North Wales, let alone the Farrington, and to snatch it away from the locals is pretty pleasing.

“The car ran perfectly but the conditions were difficult. The weather was treacherous with thick fog and mud, plus a lot of leaves making it very slippery and tricky.”
