RUGBY ROUND-UP
League 3 West A strugglers Cardigan tasted success for the second time when emerging 20-5 winners over visitors Tregaron at King George V Playing Field.
Outside half Rhun Phillips opened the home account with a solo try converted by fullback Llyr Jones.
The no 15 also landed two first half penalties and converted a second half try by flanker Osian Rees.
Flanker Gareth Jones crossed for a Tregaron try during the opening 40 minutes but it was scant consolation to the visitors who were outplayed by their opponents for whom no 8 Tom Tyler excelled.
A sub-standard showing led to Crymych crashing to a League 1 West defeat when going down 33-7 against fellow strugglers Gowerton in Swansea.
The north Pembrokeshire villagers will be anxious to avoid a fourth defeat on the bounce when Pembroke are the visitors to Parc Lloyd Thomas this Saturday.
It was virtually game, set and match before the interval with the Preselimen trailing by 21 points and struggling to get their game together.
For the homesters there were tries for scrum-half Bleddyn James, centre Gareth John, lock Jack Solomon, flanker Steve Branigan and replacement scrum-half Robbie Jones with John landing three conversions.
Scrum-half Dafydd Phillips gave the visitors some consolation with a try which was converted by Jac Davies.
