The final of the Captain’s Cup in the Cardigan & District Pool League is to be contested between cueists from the same watering hole.
There was a major upset at the semi-final stage when Red Lion skipper Dyf Allen sprang a 2-1 win over champion for the past four years Gary Murtagh of Lamb A.
The Red had further cause for celebration in the second tie as Llew Coch captain Kevin ‘Council’ Phillips turned back the years in emerging a 2-1 winner over Gareth Francis of Lamb B.
Super veteran Phillips was a regular on the green baize before the local league was formed more than 30 years ago, and on one occasion fought his way into the last 16 in Wales.
The final is to be played at the end of the season.
