There is significant excitement among Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club followers before their match of the season to date in League 1 West on November 9 when the only two unbeaten clubs Emlyn and reigning champions Felinfoel clash in Llanelli.
As it stands ‘Foel are four points ahead of the Teifisiders who have a game in hand while joint second in the table Llangennech have lost a game.
The Red and Whites have swept everyone before them since the start of the campaign and are also firing on the WRU Plate front.
All-action hooker and skipper Alex Williams leads from the front and can rely on support from a talented pack of forwards.
Emlyn also possess a speedy back division with fullback Shaun Leonard one of the top goal-kickers outside the first class game.
The Llanelli-based high-flyers were defeated in a two-legged play off against League 1 West Central kingpins Ystalyfera for promotion to the WRU Championship and are again on course to figure in the end of season encounters.
Both rivals play all-round rugby with mobile forwards and speedy backs and the game at King George’s Field could be a real spectacle.
Head coach and former Swansea lock Sam Kiley is enjoying a successful time with ‘Foel who have centre Kyle Simmonite as captain and he is partnered in a powerful midfield combination by Josh Edwards.
Outside half Aled Roberts is a prolific points gatherer with the boot and a shrewd operator with ball in hand.
Looking forward to the game Felinfoel secretary Clive Richards said: “With both teams unbeaten it promises to be quite a contest and could attract a sizeable crowd.”
