A team representing Poppits Sands Surf Lifesaving Club took part in the National Surf Lifesaving Championships in Dorset.

More than 1,300 athletes participated in the highly competitive, week-long event, hosted by Branksome Chine SLSC.

It featured masters teams, IRB competitions, as well as the junior and nipper events.

Teo Truslove and Gwil Rees were excellent ambassadors for the club and, in a nipper competition where there were 35 children in each heat, did very well to score points for the team.

In the junior event, which also featured a team from South Africa, Tom Rees got Team Poppit onto the podium by winning a bronze medal in the sprint.
