Reigning Costcutter Football League champions St Dogmaels were beaten 3-2 by West Wales and Pembrokeshire Senior Cup holders Merlin’s Bridge in the semi-final of the annual Eddie Merry Memorial Tournament in Fishguard.
It was a game the Teifi Estuary villagers could and should have won after dominating for lengthy periods and servicing up entertaining fare.
The Costcutter champs led through Louis Harding and Peter Almond strikes but the Bridge square matters on the stroke of halftime and got the winner during the second period.
Saints manager Steve Jerry Williams said: “We can take a lot of positives from the game as the lads played really well and I’m quite happy with the performance.”
In the final on Friday it was 1-1 between Pembrokeshire League Division One champions Monkton Swifts and Merlin’s Bridge after 90 minutes and the Bridge came out 4-3 on penalties.
